Hilo vice officers arrested a 34-year-old Oahu man for a variety of drug offenses Tuesday (December 21, 1999) at the Hilo International Airport.

Acting on a tip, the officers arrested the suspect, of a Waimanalo address, at 1:30 p.m. for promotion of a dangerous drug, possessing a detrimental drug and possessing drug paraphernalia.

They also seized 2.5 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice,” a minute amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was released pending federal prosecution.

Detective Marshall Kanehailua of the Hilo Vice Section said the arrest was made as part of the Police Department’s continuing effort to stem the flow of illicit drugs to the Big Island.
