MEDIA RELEASE

Following a four-month investigation, Criminal Intelligence Unit officers in Hilo arrested four Hilo women ranging in ages from 24 through 62 for a variety of gambling offenses which occurred at a local business.

On Wednesday (December 29, 1999), the four women were arrested for gambling and possession of gambling records. The investigation involved a sports betting pool being operated out of a bar establishment in the Hilo area. It is illegal to gamble within a public business establishment.

The four women were released pending further investigation. In that these cases are still continuing, no further details are being released.
