Hilo man charged with attempted murder 02-17-06

MEDIA RELEASE

On February 16, 2006, Big Island police arrested Alison Matsuda, a 61-year-old Hilo male, for assault after a 43-year-old male reported to police that Matsuda poured a flammable liquid on him while he was asleep and set him on fire.

After further investigation, the case was reclassified to attempted murder and Matsuda was charged for attempted murder on February 17, 2006 at 12:15 p.m.

The victim suffered 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns to his body and is in stable condition at Hilo Medical Center.

Matsuda is currently being held at the Hawaii Community Correctional Center in lieu of $50,000 bail.
