Big Island police have arrested the man suspected of robbing a Hilo jewelry story Friday (November 2).

Nahele Stau, 31, of Hawaiian Paradise Park was arrested for robbery at approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday. He is being held at the Hilo police cellblock without charges pending further investigation.

Responding to a 10 a.m. call, South Hilo Patrol Officers found the owner of the jewelry store on Kamehameha Avenue store injured after having been choked by a man. The officers also discovered that the man took the victim’s wedding ring, cell phone, camera and identification from her wallet.

The victim briefly lost consciousness during the attack and was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
