Three males arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an adult female were released Tuesday (August 17, 1999) pending further investigation by Hilo Juvenile Aid Section detectives.
Police had arrested the three Sunday morning after a woman stopped a South Hilo patrol officer patrolling in Hilo’s Keaukaha area. The woman said she had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted by three males who had just left the area.
Acting on a broadcast description of the vehicle, Hilo police arrested the suspects a short time later on Kapiolani Street. They were released from police custody about 4 p.m. Tuesday.
