Hilo Vice Section officers arrested two Hilo men Thursday (August 29, 2002) for promoting and possession of crystal methamphetamine and marijuana.

One of the suspects, identified as Johnathan M. Koshi, 27, was charged with promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a detrimental drug and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $3,100 bail.

The second suspect, identified as Shane R. Gardner, 24, was released pending further investigation.

The two were arrested at 7:20 a.m. at a service station located at 210 Keawe Street, where Koshi was employed.

Executing a search warrant, officers recovered about 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice”; 15 grams of dried processed marijuana; a digital gram scale, small zip-lock type of packets and paperwork describing drug transactions.

Officers making the arrest had received complaints from the public that crystal methamphetamine was being distributed at the station during working hours.
