Homeless man drowns at Leleiwi Beach 06-19-06

A Hilo man with no permanent address apparently drowned Sunday while diving at Leleiwi Beach Park in Keaukaha.

The diver was identified as Yoseph Albos, 47.

Albos had been diving with a friend around 1 p.m. when the friend noticed he was in distress. The friend tried to help him and then called 911.

Fire rescue personel tried to rescusitate the man but were unsuccessful. They took him to Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:17 p.m.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday (June 20, 2006) to determine the exact cause of death.
