Kona police detectives are investigating a stabbing Sunday morning (January 28) at the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor.

Kona patrol units and a Criminal Investigations Section detective responded to an 11:17 a.m. report of the stabbing and found a 47-year-old man with stab wounds to his arm and chest. The victim, a Kailua-Kona man with no permanent address, reported that he and the man who stabbed him had been involved in a verbal dispute the previous night.

Fire Department rescue personnel took the victim to Kona Community Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and released.

The case has been classified an attempted murder. Detectives from the Kona Criminal Investigations Section are working to determine the identity of the assailant.

Police ask anyone with information about the case to call Detective Reed Mahuna at 326-4646, extension 238, or the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.
