Hawai’i Police Department officers arrested and charged a 35-year-old California man with methamphetamine trafficking on Monday (September 15).

Kauiokuualoha Hirakawa of La Mesa, California, was arrested after Hilo vice officers served a search warrant at his hotel room on Banyan Drive and recovered four ounces of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice.” The drugs have a wholesale value of approximately $16,000 in Hawai’i.

Hirakawa was charged with methamphetamine trafficking in the first degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $25,000.
