Police have initiated a coroner’s inquest case after a 26-year-old Hilo man was found unresponsive in waters off Kapoho last week.

Henry Rongu was reported missing from the Champagne Pond area of Kapoho on August 6. His unresponsive body was found about 150-200 yards offshore on the morning of August 7. He was taken to Hilo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 9:25 a.m.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
