Media Release (update No. 2)

Detectives from the Hawaii Police Department have charged a man with two offenses in connection with an attempted murder investigation in Ka’u.

Anthony Hartz, 34, of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates was charged shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday (October 29) with one count of second-degree attempted murder and one count of first-degree terroristic threatening. He remains in custody at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $55,000 bail.

Yvette Monique Maez, 28, of Kealakekua, who was arrested Monday, was released Wednesday pending further investigation.

The victim, 33-year-old Isaac Couchie of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, remains at The Queens Medical Center on Oahu in stable condition.
