Kona female charged in robbery investigation 09-04-05

On September 4, 2005 at 9:57 am, Big Island Police responded to a Keauhou Kona business on a report that a female suspect entered a restricted area within the store and removed an employee’s backpack.

The victim confronted the suspect and a struggle ensued resulting in minor injuries to the victim. Responding officers arrested Gail Kaawa, F-44 of Naalehu. The victim’s backpack and contents was recovered at the scene.

The investigation was turned over to the Criminal Investigation Section where Kaawa was charged for Burglary, Robbery and Disorderly Conduct. Bail was set at $7,250. Kaawa is currently being held at the Kealakehe police station cellblock.
