Kona man dies of injuries suffered in Milolii accident 08-13-03

A 22-year-old Kona man who was injured in a boating accident at a Milolii boat ramp died Tuesday (August 12, 2003) at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu.

The victim was identified as Tyrone Afong, of a Milolii address.

Afong was injured August 3 as he and other fishermen were trying to pull a boat out of the water when the boat’s cleat broke loose and hit him in the head.

The victim was flown to Queen’s Medical Center suffering from head injuries.

Afong’s death was classified as a non-traffic fatality.
