MEDIA RELEASE

A 28-year-old man pulled unconscious from the waters of Kiholo Bay died Wednesday (August 4, 2004) at the North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea, South Kohala.

The victim was identified as Bradford Ordell, of a Kona address.

Ordell was reported free diving in an underwater pool about 10:30 a.m. Sunday when he failed to surface. A diving companion dived in and brought his unconscious body to shore.

The victim was then taken to the Waimea hospital, where he was admitted to the critical care unit. He was pronounced dead three days later.

Police have classified the case as a coroner’s inquest, and an autopsy has determined that Ordell died of drowning.
