MEDIA RELEASE

Kona police are warning residents to be wary of individuals offering to perform unregulated auto body repairs.

The police have received reports that two males have approached elderly drivers and offered to repair dents and rust spots for cash. The victims report that the suspects begin the work, then ask for payment before the work is completed. The suspects then take the money, leave and never return to complete the repairs.

Police are recommending that motorists either use reputable repair shops or withhold payment until the job is completed.
