Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person who robbed a Puna man at midnight Thursday in Kailua-Kona.

The 21-year-old victim reported that he was approached by a female acquaintance and three male companions in a parking lot at Kuakini Highway and Hualalai Road. One of the men punched him about the body and head and took $220 in cash.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, about 19 or 20 years old. He was wearing a red baseball cap and a white T-shirt.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call Detective Sharlotte Bird at 326-4646, extension 268, or the Police Department’s non-emergency telephone number at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
