charged with sexual assault and other offenses

MEDIA RELEASE

Detectives assigned to the Area II Juvenile Aid Section have charged Omar Angels Salazar, 22, of Mexico in connection with a sexual assault in the early morning hours Monday (March 26) at a vacation property in Keauhou, Kona.

Kona patrol officers initially received an abuse report Monday morning. Investigation revealed that an adult female was sexually assaulted, threatened, cut with a knife, beaten, choked and held her against her will.

Police put out an all-points bulletin for Salazar on Monday. He was arrested Wednesday after he turned himself in at the Kealakehe police station.

At 11:18 a.m. today (March 30), he was charged with kidnapping, second-degree assault, first-degree terroristic threatening, felony abuse of a family/household member, attempted first-degree sexual assault and two counts of first-degree sexual assault. His bail was set at $52,500. He is being held at the Kealakehe police station cellblock pending his initial court appearance.
