MEDIA RELEASE

Within the past week, the Hawaii County Police Department’s Kealakehe station has been experiencing technical problems with the installation of a new digital phone system. At this time, the new phone system is in place and operational.

The former analog phone system was obsolete and unable to meet the demands of the police department and growth of the island. Persons now calling the Kealakehe station will find that the newly installed digital system is user friendly and will enable callers to be directed to the various services offered by the police department.

The phone number to the police department’s Kealakehe station is 326-4646. For non-emergency assistance, residents are advised to call 935-3311; for emergency assistance, they should call 9-1-1.
