Frames from a surveillance video depict a burglary at Longs Drugs Puainako

MEDIA RELEASE

Big Island Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying four males who broke into Longs Drugs Puainako in July.

Surveillance video depicts the young men breaking a front plate glass window and entering the Hilo store located at Prince Kuhio Plaza on July 26, 2006.

The youths removed numerous items from the store, including cameras, cigarettes and beer.

One suspect was last seen fleeing on Puainako Street toward Railroad Avenue.

Police later recovered several of the items from a Longs Drugs shopping cart at the intersection of Puainako Street and Ohuohu Street.

Police ask anyone who recognizes the youths to call Detective Uwao Chartrand of the East Hawaii Criminal Investigations Section at 961-2382 or the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in East Hawaii or 329-8181 in West Hawaii. Calls to Crime Stoppers are kept confidential.
