Man drowns in Milolii on Saturday 07-08-06

A 52-year old man apparently drowned Saturday (July 8, 2006) in waters off Milolii, >South Kona>.
The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Witnesses reported the victim was swimming when he appeared to have difficulties. Several divers in the water nearby came to his aid, pulling him from the water and attempted to revive him.            

Responding to a >12:54 p.m.> call, Kona patrol officers arrived to find Fire/Rescue personnel attempting to revive the victim. He was taken to >>Kona> >Community> >Hospital>>,where he was pronounced dead at >4:28 p.m.>

The incident has been classified as a coroner’s inquest. Police have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
