Man’s Body Found in Hilo 08-24-01

Acting on a 9:28 a.m. call, South Hilo Patrol officers found the body of a 47-year-old man Friday (August 24, 2001) at an establishment formerly known as the Hilo Hotel at 142 Kinoole Street.

The victim was taken to the Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:45 a.m.

Police have tentatively identified the victim, but are withholding his name pending notification of the next of kin.

They have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and have tentatively classified the case as a coroner’s inquest.
