MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Ka’u police have found a 24-year-old man who had been reported missing since June 14, 2004, from his home on South Point Road in Ka’u.

The missing man, identified as Ebn Michael Wendell, was found safe on Friday (June 18, 2004) on South Point Road, four days after he had wandered away from his care home.

Police were concerned about the Wendell’s safety because he must take medication for a medical condition.

Captain Robert Ka’aua said Wendell was located with the help of concerned members of the Naalehu community.

“The Police Department would like to thank the many people of the community who responded and helped us find the missing man,” Ka’aua said.

“Without the community’s help, the outcome of this incident could have turned into a tragedy.”
