Police traffic investigators have identified a 52-year-old Pahoa man who died Saturday (February 9) from injuries he received in a two-vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Hawaii Belt Road (Route 11) and Kukui Camp Road in Mountain View.

The victim was identified as Allan K. Kalua of a Pahoa address.

Kalua was the operator of a 1986 Honda two-door sedan and traveling north on the Hawaii Belt Road when he rear-ended a 1987 Ford pickup truck that was stopped on the highway to make a left turn onto Kukui Camp Road.

The driver of the Ford, a 26-year-old Mountain View man was not injured.

Police ask anyone with information about this crash to call Officer Andres Fojas at 961-8889.

This is the fifth traffic fatality on the Big Island this year compared with six at this time last year.
