NEW PATROL SCOOTERS — Officer Matthew Kaaihue of the South Hilo Patrol tries out one of the police department’s two new three-wheel patrol scooters. The four-cylinder GO-4 Interceptors join the department’s current fleet of eight Cushman motorscooters, six in Hilo and two in Kona. One of the new scooters is assigned to the South Hilo District; the other, to the Kona District. The scooters are used to patrol the downtown and the Banyan Drive areas of Hilo and the Kailua-Kona town area of Kona.
