…’Officer of the Month’ for West Hawaii

Media Release

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee recognized Officer Carrie Akina as “Officer of the Month” in a luncheon ceremony Wednesday (July 2) at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.

Akina was honored not only for issuing an exceptional number of driving citations and arresting suspected drunk drivers, but also for completing several criminal investigations, including investigations that led to the apprehension of two burglars.

As “Officer of the Month,” she is eligible to become “Officer of the Year.”

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee is an organization that encourages community involvement in aiding and supporting police in West Hawaii.
