…stolen in a Hilo burglary

Media Release

Detectives from the Hawai’i Police Department are investigating a burglary at a home in the Waiākea Uka area of Hilo sometime between mid-morning on March 1 and mid-afternoon on March 2.

Included in the items removed was a police officer’s duty belt. The belt held a silver Smith and Wesson 9mm semi-automatic pistol with black grips, a Taser brand electronic control device, an expandable silver metal baton with a black grip, and a one-ounce canister of “Vexor” brand Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray, commonly known as “pepper spray.”

The Taser X26 depicted in the photo above is available only to law enforcement.

Police advise the public not to approach anyone who has these items. They ask anyone with information about this case to call the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
