Local Jam took honors as Intermediate School Volleyball Champions during the seventh annual Positive Alternative Gang Education (P.A.G.E.) Intermediate Division Volleyball Tournament.

Hilo Intermediate School was the runner-up in the tournament, held February 13 and 20, 1999, and sponsored by the Hawaii County Police Department’s Juvenile Aid Section and the Boys and Girls Club of Hilo.

The tournament was made possible with support from the State Office of Youth Services.

A total of eight teams took part in the competition. Besides Local Jam and Hilo Intermediate School, the other teams were Boys and Girls Club of Hilo Team Volley, Boys and Girls Club of Hilo Onipaa, Boys and Girls Club of Hilo Warriors, Kalanianaole School, Monarchs and Mountain View Green.
