A fire badly damaged the kitchen and dining area of a home in the Papaikou area Friday Morning (June 28, 2002).

Responding to an 11:16 a.m. call, police arrived to find firefighters extinguishing a blaze at the home, located on the Old Government Road north of the Papaikou Hongwanji.

No one was injured in the fire, and firefighters had to force entry into the house in order to extinguish the blaze.

Fire investigators said the blaze apparently started in electrical wiring near the electric stove in the kitchen.

No estimate of damage was given, and fire investigators are continuing an investigation into the exact cause of the fire.
