Thanks to numerous tips from the public, Big Island police have identified two women whose images were recorded on a video surveillance camera in connection with a shoplifting incident on July 23 at a surf shop in Pāhoa.
The first suspect, 33-year-old Chantelle Noelani Kalani of Hilo, was arrested in Hilo just before noon Sunday. She was charged with shoplifting and two outstanding bench warrants for failure to appear in court. Her bail was set at $1,350. She is being held at the Hilo police cellblock pending a court appearance.
Police are still looking for the second suspect, identified as 35-year-old Lorilei Kapela Brown of Pāhoa. She is described as 5-foot-7, 170 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
Police ask that anyone with information on her whereabouts call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
