MEDIA RELEASE

Big Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 74-year-old woman who may be suffering from dementia.

Her name is Elizabeth Christensen and she lives on Captain’s Drive in the Fern Forest Estates subdivision.

She was last seen at 3 p.m. Monday (May 15, 2006) near the Fern Forest community association building. She was on foot and was wearing blue jeans, a yellow sweater and a blue jacket.

Christensen is usually accompanied by a medium-size brown dog with medium-length fur and a red collar. The dog also has not been found.

The woman was reported missing Thursday evening. A ground and aerial search Friday along with the use of the Hawaii Police Department’s bloodhound, Tucker, turned up no signs of her.

Anyone with any information about Christensen’s whereabouts is asked to call the police non-emergency number at 935-3311 or, if it is an emergency, 911.
