Police seek ID of suspect in Puna robbery 09-17-14

Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating an attempted robbery in May in Puna.

On May 2 at about 8:30 p.m., police responded to the Pāhoa 7-11 convenience store after receiving a report that a man had entered the store and demanded money from an employee. After the 19-year-old male victim refused the demand, the suspect fled the area. The victim was not injured in the robbery attempt.

The suspect was described as a local male in his early 20s, between 5-foot-8 and 5-10, about 165 pounds with a muscular upper body. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt, blue sweat pants, black-and-white Converse style shoes and black rubber gloves.

Police ask anyone with information on this incident or anyone who may know the identity of the suspect to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or contact Detective Dean Uyetake at 961-2379 or deuytetake@co.hawaii.hi.us.
