MEDIA RELEASE

Motorists traveling along the Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) in Puna are urged to drive with caution because of construction along the highway.

Noting that several accidents have occurred in the construction zone, mostly because of speeding and inattention, police are urging motorists to exercise due caution and slow down when driving through areas of construction.

Construction crews are active in several areas along the highway between Paradise Drive and Pahoa, making traveling along the route more hazardous than usual, police said.

Road construction in the area is expected to continue at least until the end of the year, according to the State Highways Division.
