MEDIA RELEASE

A 36-year-old local male apparently drowned Monday (February 14, 2000) in waters off Keei Beach, South Kona.

Responding to a 2 p.m. call, Kona officers learned that bystanders had found the victim floating face down, pulled him out of the water and summoned fire rescue.

Fire rescue personnel administered CPR and transported the victim to the Kona Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:58 p.m.

Police have requested an autopsy to determine the cause of death and are continuing an investigation into the public accident case.
