MEDIA RELEASE

Three members of the Hawaii Police Department were promoted from lieutenant to captain effective February 1, 2007.

Duane Rapoza is now in charge of the Training Section in the Administrative Services Division, while James O’Connor commands the Ka’u District and James Sanborn commands the North Kohala District.

Rapoza, fills a position left vacant last month when Jay Enanoria was promoted from captain to major. O’Connor fills a position left vacant when Captain Marshall Kanehailua transferred to the Internal Affairs and Criminal Intelligence Unit. Sanborn fills a position that has been vacant for several months.

Before the promotions, Rapoza worked in the Communications-Dispatch Section, O’Connor headed the Police Department’s Special Response Team and Sanborn was in charge of Community Policing.
