Media Release (update)

A 44-year-old Hawaiʻi Army National Guardsman who was critically injured in a Humvee crash on the old Saddle Road .3 miles west of the 36 mile marker died Friday (June 10) at 3:07 p.m. at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu.

The victim was identified as Sergeant Michael Geisler of Ewa Beach, Oahu.

Traffic Enforcement Unit officers have initiated a coroner’s inquest case and have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Being that the old Saddle Road is gated and not open to the public, the death is not counted toward the island’s traffic fatality count.
