Hawaiʻi Island police have identified the victim whose body was found Tuesday (May 28) in waters off Kalapana in the Puna District.

She was identified Thursday (May 30) through fingerprints as 25-year-old Brittany-Jane Royal, who had recently moved to Kalapana. Her last known permanent address before the move to Hawaiʻi was in Tustin, California.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section are continuing the investigation as a murder.
