…possible suspect in Puna burglary

Media Release

The Hawaii Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating and identifying an unknown male seen in the area of a burglary that occurred on 42nd Avenue in the Orchidland Subdivision of the Puna District.

Puna patrol officers responded to the scene of the burglary on July 6. Video surveillance caught a possible suspect walking in the area. He is described as a local male wearing a black hat, purple shirt and black pants. He was also carrying a black backpack.

Police ask anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the suspect to call Detective Reed Mahuna at 961-2384 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
