Since mid February, Puna residents in rural subdivisions have reported incidents where their mailboxes have been unlawfully entered and damaged. The mailboxes are being pried open and mail is being removed. The public is being asked to check their mailboxes and report any suspicious activity. It is a Federal crime to remove or tamper with another persons mail. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call the Keaau Police Station at 966-5835, or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
