A Hawaiian Shores, Puna, home was badly damaged by fire Saturday night (May 20, 2000).

Responding to a 10:52 p.m. call, fire and police units arrived to find the home on South La’i Street about half engulfed in flames. Firefighters extinguished the blaze about 11:09 p.m.

No one was home at the time of the blaze, which caused an estimated $120,000 damage to the two-story, two-bedroom home and its contents. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

The home is owned by Ed and Diane Winslow.
