Puna man drowns while night diving off South Kohala 09-16-03

A 54-year-old man drowned Monday (September 16, 2003) while night diving with family members in waters off Kiholo Bay in South Kohala.

The victim was identified as Dennis Segovia Sr., of a Hawaiian Beaches address in Puna.

Responding to an 11:30 p.m. call Monday, fire rescue personnel found the victim not breathing. The victim was taken to the North Hawaii Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday.

The results of an autopsy determined that the victim died of drowning.
