MARCH 27, 2001

Hilo Vice Section officers, along with community police and patrol officers from the Puna District, arrested a 36-year-old female and a 41-year-old male Wednesday (March 21, 2001) for numerous drug and firearms offenses, along with burglary, theft and auto theft, at a residence in the Fern Acres Subdivision of Puna.

Acting on a search warrant, the officers arrested David Paul Medeiros and Eloise W. Krause after recovering approximately one ounce of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice,” 180 marijuana plants, drug paraphernalia and 13 illegal firearms, one of which had been stolen. While at the residence, police also recovered more than $2,500 in cash for forfeiture, a stolen chain saw and stolen motor vehicle.

At 8:05 p.m. the following day, police charged Medeiros and Krause for the offenses. Krause’s bail was set at $13,750 and Medeiros is being held without bail.

Police records indicate that Medeiros was arrested 32 times in the past and had been out on bail since September 2000 after being charged for auto theft, drug and firearms violations.
