Puna Youth Charged With Variety of Offenses 01-16-01

Hilo Criminal Investigation Section detectives charged an 18-year-old male Friday (January 12, 2001) with a variety of offenses ranging from computer fraud to sex assault.

The suspect, identified as Claude Krause, of a Kurtistown, Puna, address, has been released on $26,300 bail.

At 9:07 p.m. Friday, detectives charged the suspect with two counts of first-degree burglary, one count of first-degree sexual assault, one count of theft, two counts of attempted theft, one count of computer fraud and one count of unauthorized control of a motor vehicle.

Detectives said the computer fraud charge stemmed from the suspects attempt to fraudulently obtain money from an automated teller machine.
