MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Kona police have recovered a second vehicle that was allegedly purchased fraudulently from a Kailua-Kona automobile dealership.

The suspect, April Kealamakia, of Waimea, is being held in the Kona police cellblock pending further investigation by West Hawaii Criminal Investigation Section detectives.

Kealamakia allegedly purchased the two vehicles — a blue 2005 Ford Expedition SUV and a silver 2005 Ford F350 pickup truck — with a fraudulent pre-authorized transfer order (bill of exchange) and other financial documents. The vehicles were valued at $91,484.

Police earlier recovered the Ford Expedition and recovered the pickup truck Wednesday (December 22, 2004).
