Six-year-old struck by car, critically injured 08-17-05

A six-year-old boy is hospitalized in critical condition at Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu after being struck by a car Tuesday (August 16, 2005) in Paradise Park, Puna.

Responding to a 3:50 p.m. call, Puna Patrol officers learned that the boy was running across Makuu Drive between 31st and 32nd Avenues when he was struck by a Mazda sedan driven makai by a 22-year-old male.

The injured boy was taken to the Hilo Medical Center and then flown to Queen’s, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police have initiated a standard negligent injury investigation and are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call Officer William Brown of the Puna Patrol at 966-5835 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
