IN APPRECIATION — Jenna Yancey, special events manager for Special Olympics Hawaii, presents Police Chief Wayne Carvalho with a plaque of appreciation. Each year, the Hawaii County Police Department’s contributes to the Special Olympics by holding a run and a walk to benefit the Special Olympics games. This year, the Department raised $5,133 in the First Hawaiian Bank Troy Barboza Law Enforcement Torch Run for the games, held April 10, 1999. The plaque is a reproduction of the artwork on T-shirts given to participants in this year’s run and walk.
