Three people were arrested Thursday (September 2) in connection with a stolen Jeep.

Kona patrol officers responding to an unrelated incident, encountered the two men and a woman who were being sought in connection with the Jeep SUV that was taken from downtown Hilo on August 9.

Officers arrested 40-year-old Zachary Kanakanui of Hilo, 59-year-old Mac Leroy Nobriga of Hilo and 31-year-old Andrea Wright of Hilo at 5 a.m. in Honalo.

At 12:50 p.m., Kanakanui was charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. He is being held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $10,000 bail pending a court appearance.

Nobriga and Wright were released pending further investigation.
