MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Hilo Criminal Investigation Section detectives have charged a 19-year-old male in an armed robbery that occurred last March at the Waikoloa State Park in Hilo.

The suspect, Isaac Caraballo, of a Hilo address, was charged with first-degree robbery at 3:50 p.m. Friday (May 5, 2000). He is being held in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $5,000 bail.

A 17-year-old juvenile male was also arrested in connection with the same robbery and was released pending further investigation.

On the evening of March 14, an 18-year-old male was sitting in a vehicle in the Wailoa State Park when he was accosted by a male suspect brandishing a handgun and demanding cash and compact disks. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash and a number of CD’s, the suspect fled on foot.
