MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Police arrested a 20-year-old suspect they had been looking for and charged him with one count of second-degree theft.

The suspect, identified as Shannon Paleka Gonsalves, turned himself in to police at 8 a.m. Wednesday (July 7, 2004) and was arrested an outstanding bench warrant. At 4:45 p.m. Thursday, he was charged with theft and later released on $1,000 bail.

The suspect had been wanted on a $200 outstanding bench warrant for contempt of court and for questioning about a theft from a Hilo residence in January 2003.
