Hilo Criminal Investigation Section detectives charged a Puna man Saturday (March 17, 2001) with a variety of crimes after he allegedly burglarized a woman’s home, tied her up and stole items from her house.

The suspect was identified as Frank Eblacas Jr., 35, of an Orchid Land Drive address.

At 5 p.m. Wednesday, a 40-year-old woman told police that she was awakened by an intruder in her Orchid Land Estates home. The victim said she struggled with the intruder, who then tied her up and took items from her home.

At 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Hilo CIS detectives arrested Eblacas as a suspect in the case. At 7:05 p.m., they charged him with first-degree burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and kidnapping.

Eblacas is being held in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $45,000 bail.
