Suspicious Ka’u fires 08-07-06

Ka’u police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying suspects in a rash of brush fires in Ka’u.

During the past year, Ka’u police have responded to more than 30 suspicious brush fires. Most occurred in Pahala. Several of those were either off >>Maile Street>> or >>Wood Valley Road>>. Most were intentionally started in the late night or early morning hours.

Police ask anyone with information about any suspicious fires or vehicles seen in the vicinity of fires to call Officer James Lorenzo of Ka’u Patrol at 939-2520 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in >>Hilo>> or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
